Chapter 5 Shared History
As I looked at the man I once loved, all I saw was someone utterly revolting.
“You said it yourself. She felt humiliated whenever I gave her money. So… why should I spend another cent on her?”
Even beggars knelt when asking for money.
Meanwhile, Dominic and Paige? They had the audacity to take from my pocket while standing tall–and still have the nerve to
point the finger at me.
I had never met two people so shameless in my entire life!
Dominic also realized his words contradicted themselves. His face turned beet red, and he stammered, unable to get a single word
out.
The sight of him only deepened my disgust. It was just as well that it was lunchtime. My hunger reminded me I had better things
to do. So, I left for a nearby cheese fondue restaurant.
Of course, Dominic shamelessly tagged along after me.
He mixed two sauces and slid one in front of me before sitting across the table like nothing had happened.
“Meals should be the most enjoyable time. Let’s not argue, okay?” he said, deliberately trying to appease me.
I frowned but stayed silent.
He counted the seconds as he dunked shrimp, ham, lamb, and beef into the spicy fondue, then switched to tossing lettuce and romaine into the light fondue. When they were ready, he placed them on my plate first.
Shrimps and tripe, my favorite–years had passed, but my tastes hadn’t changed.
I also loved lettuce and romaine, but only when cooked in the light fondue.
He still remembered.
