As I heard his rant, I couldn’t help but find it all ridiculously hilarious. After all, my family didn’t have many relatives, and no one
had ever tried to fight me for the inheritance. Thus, his words for “protecting my wealth” were just a load of bullsh*t.
As for him working alongside me… If anything, he and his family had been spending my money without earning any. The least I
1/2
could expect from them was if they just spent less!
Still, it would be a waste of breath to reason with Dominic about this since he had no conscience.
I said coldly, “We signed a prenuptial agreement and a contract stating that you would be left with nothing if you cheated. I have
videos of you cheating on me with Paige, as well as records of your inappropriate texts with her.
You should know very well that you won’t gain anything when it comes to dividing assets. If you’re smart, you would sign the
divorce papers now.
Then, I won’t look into this matter any further. You can still be an associate professor at the university, and I won’t take back the house or car I gave your family. However, if you insist on being stubborn, don’t blame me for leaving you with nothing!”
When I loved Dominic, he and his family could do whatever they wanted. Nevertheless, none of them were worth even a second
glance now that I no longer loved him.
Dominic’s face turned pale since he had never seen me so intimidating before.
I walked past him and bumped him lightly. “Get out of my way.”
Just as I walked down the stairs and was about to get in the car, Dominic rushed over and glared at me. “You’ll regret treating me like this, Carlee! I’ll let you know that I’ll continue to thrive even without you! Without you holding me back, I’ll live better than
ever!”
I scoffed at his words and said, “Just don’t come crawling back to me like a lapdog.”
“You!”
I had no intention of listening to his insults. Hence, I started the car and drove away.
That same day, Dominic signed the divorce papers and handed them over to my lawyer.
Later, Lauren invited me to dinner and complained, “Are you going to let Dominic and his family off just like that? You’re too
kind!”
I scooped up a spoonful of ice cream and replied, “Many people knew that his family had helped me before. If I destroyed them right off the bat, it would harm my family’s reputation. They would also retaliate like cornered rats if I left them with nothing. Therefore, the safe bet is to let them turn on each other.”
Honestly, I would much rather be one of the audience watching them fight one another instead of having them aim their hatred
toward me.
