Chapter 4
Lucius did not expect to see me raise my head. He gritted his teeth and was at a loss.
Lilian was the first to react. “Oh, Lucius! You came back to life! How lucky we are! Oh, it must be God’s kindness!”
Lucius hurriedly acted his part. “Mom, I feel like I’ve just escaped death! I’m glad to be alive!”
Of course, I had to fake
My sincerity too.
I hugged Lucius and sobbed. “I’m
so glad, hubby! You’re not dead! We’ll never be separated again.”
When I said that, gloom washed over the three of them.
Rebecca interrupted us and looked displeased. “Okay, let’s tell everyone the great news since Lucius is awake. We’ll call off the
funeral.”
I looked at her and said calmly, “Thank you for all your help in these trying times, Rebecca. But you’re not my family. Just go home. We’ll handle our own family matters from here.”
Rebecca gritted her teeth and looked at Lucius.
Lucius shook his head gently as though to tell her not to act recklessly.
Rebecca snorted and turned to leave.
At night, I held Lucius’s hand and whispered, “You’re better now, hubby. I want to sue the hospital for misdiagnosing you.”
That struck Lucius dumb.
“No, please don’t. They didn’t mean it. Besides, I’m fine.”
After informing the relatives, we were on our way back to our house in the city.
On our way home, Lucius and Lilian seemed to have a lot on their minds.
