Chapter 8
I went up the mountain with Lucius alone that day because I wanted to hear the truth from him.
As expected, I gained something.
“What lottery?”
“I won a lottery of 300 million dollars. At first, I wanted to divorce you and marry Rebecca. Then, we would enjoy a great life abroad with the money.”
“Did it ever occur to you that we should be together instead since we’ve been married for so many years?”
Of course, Lucius was too frightened to tell the truth. “Of course, I do. But Rebecca persuaded me to get all the money. Plus, she’s pregnant. I have no choice but to…”
An idea dawned on me when I saw him like that. “I forgot to tell you. Rebecca hooked up with a lot of men. You’re just one of her many lovers.”
Lucius was stunned. Then, he yelled, “How dare she lie to me?!”
“I’m glad to see you figure it out. But you have to tell me where you kept the lottery ticket if you want me to pull you up.”
“Uhm…” Lucius hesitated. “I’ll tell you once you pull me up.‘

I laughed coldly. “You don’t have to tell me then. Just come to my dream and tell me once you’re dead.”
“No, I’ll tell you!” Frightened, Lucius looked away. I knew he was coming up with another lie.
I could read every emotion on his face. “I’ve recorded our conversation. If you tell me the truth, we’ll split the cash. If not, I’ll sue
you for attempted murder. I’ll make you spend the rest of your life in jail.”
My words scared him out of his wits. He immediately told me the truth. “I got a safe in the bank with the lottery ticket in it. The
password is my mother’s birthday.”
