“I don’t know if you’re telling the truth or not.”
Anxiety gripped him. “I’m telling you the truth! I didn’t even tell my mom for fear that she would accidentally spill it to someone.
If you don’t trust me, we’ll go check for it together once we go down the mountain.”
He did not seem to be lying. Hence, I nodded and was about to pull him up. However, he was left hanging in the air for too long.
His palms were sweaty.
When I extended my hand to help him up, his sweaty palm slipped out of my grasp. I watched him drop out of my sight and fall to
the bottom of the valley. He could not even scream.
Although his death had nothing to do with me, it had happened right before me. My mind went blank. When I realized what had
happened, I called the cops.

There was a chance that Lucius could be saved. I did want revenge, but I never intended to kill anyone.
I called the cops. Before long, the police arrived. Soon, the rescue teams found Lucius’s body at the bottom of the valley. His head had smashed against a rock. He had died on the spot.
I went down the mountain with his body. Both Lilian and Rebecca were waiting at the bottom of the mountain.
When they saw the rescue teams and cops, they assumed that Lucius had succeeded. They could not stop smiling.
When Lilian saw the cops carry a body down the mountain, she rushed over.
“Sir, this woman’s death has nothing to do with my son. She fell off the cliff on her own. My son is innocent.”
I walked out from behind the cops and looked at Lilian. “Lilian.”
Instantly, her face changed. Rebecca was stunned, too.
When Lilian realized what had happened, she lifted the white cloth that covered Lucius’s body. She saw her son’s bloody and pale
face as he lay on the stretcher.
“How is that… Lucius?”
She burst into tears, hugged Lucius’s body, and wailed piteously.
I was in the clothes given to me by the cops as I watched her without any compassion.
“Lilian, he’s dead. Just accept it.”
In less than half a month, the same words repeated. But the difference was that Lucius was dead for real this time.
