Chapter 5
After I left, Sean started to realize that something was wrong.
Suddenly, he panicked and drove home as fast as he could.
When he arrived, he thrust the door open.
The house was empty, and all my things were gone.
On the desk was the only photo of us together, but my side had been cut out. Sean’s smiling face was the only part left of the
picture.
He opened the bedroom door with trembling hands.
Just like in the living room, everything of mine was gone.
For a moment, it felt like I had ceased to exist.
His hands shook, and he breathed heavily as he opened our chat history on his phone.
Then, he remembered that he had muted me.
I had only sent him two messages.
[I’m breaking up with you.
[I hate betrayal and lies.]
When he saw them, he collapsed and leaned against the bed.
He typed out and deleted his replies a few times before he sent me the final version.
[We can talk about this.]
As soon as he sent it, he realized that I had blocked him.
He tortured himself by scrolling through all the messages I had previously sent. They were full of love for him.
However, my love for him stopped a week ago.
It was the day he gave Josie the scarf I had made for him. He told her to use it for the stray dogs.
His tears fell as he looked at his phone.
He searched the house frantically, but everything related to me was gone.
Ten hours later, I landed at the airport. Meanwhile, Sean was still upset at home.
My parents immediately examined me.

When my mom saw the scars on my hands, she asked with concern, “How did you get these scars? Did Sean force you to do a lot of things?”
I did not want to tell them about his legs being fine already, so I just brushed it off. I told them that I cut myself while cooking
instead.
My mom told me to be more careful next time. She also said that the scars looked painful.
I was taken aback.
