Chapter 6
“Hi, I’m Wesley Murray.”
He was polite.
I was confused because his name sounded familiar.
Wesley noticed this and smiled. “You don’t remember me? We used to play together when we were kids.”
Right then, I stared at him in shock. “You’re… the chubby kid from next door?!”
He smiled and nodded.
The Wesley before me was a charming gentleman.
How could he be the same chubby kid? Back then, he would follow me around with a runny nose and claim to protect me.
I shook off the thought and continued talking to him.
We got along well.
When it was time to leave, he kindly offered to drive me home.
On the way back, he joked that when we were kids, I would say I was going to marry him.
I just smiled awkwardly.
He stopped the car and looked at me seriously. “Wendy, I want you to know that I liked you back then, and I still do. I’ll wait for the day you open up to me. There’s no rush. I’ll always be here, just like before.”
Then, he dropped me off at my door. As I touched my cheek, I realized that it was burning.
Did he have feelings for me all this time?
I did not know what was so special about me for him to like me.
Just then, Wesley sent me a message. [Are you free tomorrow? Can I take you out for a meal?]
[Sure,] I replied.
I was about to go inside when someone suddenly appeared in the hallway.
It was Sean, whom I had not seen for a few days.
