Jasper immediately pulled the ornament off his console and tossed it out of the window. “Ari, I’ll throw away anything you don’t
like.
“Tomorrow, I’ll change the interior design back to how it was originally, and we can go and buy another crystal at the mall some
other day.”
I crossed my arms and said carelessly, “It looks pretty nice. You don’t need to go to all that trouble. Just hurry up and sign the
divorce agreement. When you marry Nicole, you can use this car for the wedding.”
Jasper hesitated, but I closed my eyes to rest and ignored him.
When we got to the sanatorium, I enjoyed everything that Jasper had arranged for me. It had been mine to begin with anyway.
The moment I took the baby in my arms, tears spilled out of my eyes. “Darling, please don’t blame me for only coming to see you
after so long.”
I apologized silently in my heart as I hugged the baby tightly.
Jasper’s attitude softened when he saw how I was treating the baby. He came over and put an arm around my shoulders.
“Don’t worry. The baby’s been taken care of very well. Nicole-”
I flung his hand away at once and carried the baby to one side. He knew he had said the wrong thing.
He pressed his lips together and opened his mouth to say something, but he was interrupted by a phone call.
I smiled sardonically as I glanced at Jasper. He walked awkwardly away to take the call.
As he spoke, his tone grew more impatient. “I told you that I won’t have any time to keep you company right now! Aria is my wife.
It’s perfectly natural for me to keep her company! Will you stop being so unreasonable?”
Jasper said urgently, “Nicole! Can you hear me? Say something! I’ll come and see you right now. Don’t do anything stupid!”
After hanging up, Jasper came over to make a show of reporting to me. “Ari, something’s happened at the office and I’ve got to go
over right now to deal with it.
“I’ll come over tonight to keep you and the baby company so that our family can have a meal together.”
I did not even look up at him. I was focused on playing with the baby.
Not long after Jasper had gone, Tyler and Bryan walked in quickly. They all crowded around me to look at the baby.
“It’s a good thing the baby looks nothing like that asshole, Jasper. Otherwise, it would annoy me to look at him. I’d be afraid of being unable to stand it and tossing him away.”
