Chapter 88
Dahlia shot a quick glanor at Charles. Her mind was racing. She was worried that every word she spoke
Evelyn’s calm demeanor might sway him, so she kept pushing his buttons with
“Evelyn, you’re terrifying How can you be so bold? Do you think you’re untouchable now that Rosa is back and you have her support? Do you really believe you’re above the law?“.
Tears threatened to spill from Dahha’s eyes, and she looked like she might collapse at any second. Her gaze was fired on Evelyn. Her expression screamed of frustration–despite the apparent evidence against Evelyn, she felt powerless
After she finished speaking, Dahlia turned to Charles, who looked like a storm about to break. His expression was icy and intense. Charles was on the brink of fury. and it seemed Evelyn was in senous trouble.
Dahlia’s eyes brefly flickered with a hint of malice. But before she could even think about calling the cops, Charles spoke up, “Aiden, take him to the police station yoursell”
“Yes, Mr. Jenkins, Aiden replied promptly, stepping forward to lift the man off the ground and drag him out.
Everything happened so fast that Evelyn barely knew what was happening. But she was innocent and wasn’t afraid to go to the police station. She trusted that the truth would come out and clear her name!!
So, without fear or resistance, Evelyn started following Aiden to head to the police station. She was ready t to face whatever came next!
“Hold on,” Charles said, gently setting Sandy on the couch. He stood and approached Evelyn quickly, grabbed her wrist before she could leave, and pulled her back.
Evelyn stumbled, crashing into Charles‘ solid chest, which left her momentarily dizzy
Charles signaled Aiden with a glance, who promptly took the man away, closing the door behind him.
“Charles, the evidence is clear Evelyn tried to have me and Sandy killed. Are you really going to defend her?” Dahlia’s voice shook as she stared at Charles, disbelief written all over her face. Was he falling for Evelyn? Even with all the evidence, was he taking her side?
Regaining her composure, Evelyn
velyn was momentarily caught off guard by Dahlia’s words. What was Charles thinking? Did he actually believe her?
But then Charles spoke, and his words sent a chill down her spine “Sandy gets hurt, and you know I won’t let it slide. I
His voice was cold as he looked down at Evelyn in his arms. With that one sentence, it felt like her fate was sealed
Dahlia hadn’t fully grasped what Charles meant until she saw him dragging Evelyn towards the basement. Suddenly, any worry she had vanished. Sena had once mentioned how, when Evelyn first came to the Jenkins family estate, they had locked her in the basement with rats and bugs–a cruel torment that became Evelyns worst nightmare. She feared the basement, especially one filled with rats, more than anything.
Charles was truly being ruthless
“Charles, let me go!” Evelyn shouted, still unsure of his intentions. She struggled fiercely as he dragged her along, realizing how absurd it had been to think Charles might trust her, even for a moment)
Charles grip was unyielding. After several futile attempts to break free, Evelyn felt like a rag doll, dragged without mercy across the living room and deeper into the
house
“Charles, are you even listening? Let go of me. It’s not your job to deal with me. If you really think I’m guilty, take me to the police station!”
