After seeing that familiar figure on the news, Grayson pulled every string he had to find out exactly who it was.
Because the Campbell family’s roots were overseas while he remained in America, it took half a month before he finally
uncovered a name–Aurora.
When he saw the records from the recognition banquet, his eyes locked onto a single person. He recognized her immediately.
It was her. His Violet.
She had a different name now, but that didn’t matter. He knew. He knew with absolute certainty that she was the one he had been searching for.
He wasted no time tracking down the Campbell family’s address. The moment he confirmed it, he booked the next available flight
to the UK.
On the way there, he pictured the moment they would meet. A thousand possibilities played out in his mind, but the most likely, he thought, was that she would still be angry and unwilling to see him.
That was fine.
As long as he could see her, that was enough.
After brushing so close to death, he had come to realize one undeniable truth–he could not live without Violet.
He would admit his mistakes, sincerely. He would never again be swayed by another woman.
And once she forgave him, he would hold an even grander wedding, one that would let the whole world know how much he loved
her.
But when he finally saw her again, one month later, it wasn’t at all as he had imagined.
There was another man by her side.
They talked, engrossed in conversation, for nearly an hour.
He stood behind a wall, watching, like a lonely man getting a glimpse of someone else’s happiness.
But the sight of her–so familiar, yet impossibly distant–was like a tide pulling him under.
He could hardly breathe.
Just as he reached his limit, just as the weight of it all became unbearable, he finally spoke the name that had been carved into his
heart.
After nearly a month, Grayson stood before the woman he had once believed dead. His eyes burned, his voice faltering.
“Violet… I finally found you. You’re not dead… You’re alive, standing right in front of me.”

He barely registered the man beside her.
Aurora let out a quiet sigh the moment she heard that familiar voice.
She had known that the fake corpse wouldn’t fool Grayson forever, but she hadn’t expected him to find her so soon.
She glanced at Nate, signaling for him to leave. Then, she turned to face Grayson, her expression void of warmth.
Her voice was cold.
“Why are you here? Violet is dead. I am Aurora now.”
It was only then that Grayson recalled the information he had gathered over the past half month.
So she hadn’t been an orphan after all.
She was Aurora, the lost daughter of the Campbell family–their cherished, irreplaceable jewel.

“Violet…” He caught himself. “No… Aurora. I know I was wrong. I’ve ditched Ruby. The child, too. I had it dealt with.
