Yoel’s face turned extremely gloomy, and he clenched his phone tightly while calling Henry, his secretary.
“Find out where Felicity has been for the past few days. I want to see everything in ten minutes!”
Seeing how furious he looked in the surveillance footage, I found it amusing. After all, Yoel had always been calm and collected in front of me. I had never seen him looking so desperate before. Who was he putting this act for when I was finally gone?
In less than ten minutes, his phone started ringing. Yoel’s face flashed with joy, and he immediately answered the call. Then, I heard Rosa’s coy voice coming from the phone.
“See you tomorrow night! I can’t wait for your surprise!”
The frustrated look on Yoel’s face was instantly gone. “I’m sorry. I need to leave for an emergency, so you’ll have to celebrate your birthday by yourself this year. I’ll get Henry to send you your birthday gift.”
After a few seconds of silence, Rosa said in disbelief, “Yoel, have you mistaken me for someone else? It’s Rosie, not Felicity!”
I scoffed silently, and I wasn’t surprised by her reaction at all. In the past, Yoel would always bail on me. So, I would always get my gift from Henry.
Since Yoel was already feeling frustrated, he lashed out instantly. “I’m not senile yet, and I can tell my wife from you! Rosa, I can’t believe what you’ve done this time. I don’t care if you want the locket, but why did you have to give it to your dog? Felicity really is angry this time!”
Before Rosa could say anything else, his eyes lit up, and he ended the call right away.
This time, he had finally received a call from Henry. “Mrs. Lawson bought a flight ticket to Idani today.”
Yoel finally smiled, and he told Henry to book him a ticket for the same flight immediately. “That’s right. Felicity has always wanted to check out an art exhibition with me. I’ll just have to comfort her a little!”
He walked out the door as he spoke, and he was gone from the surveillance footage in just ten seconds. I turned my phone off and took out the SIM card, throwing both the card and the phone in the trash can nearby. I figured I wouldn’t need them anymore.
