Zach seemed wounded by those words.
I grabbed Juliet’s hand and said, “Let’s get out of here.”
There was a saying that it was better to deal with a problem in its early stages instead of later. Although I birthed a stillborn, I was lucky it was through a natural birth.
Unlike me, Juliet went through an abortion, so her weakened body needed a proper recovery. I feared she would have lingering illnesses if she continued to be this angry. Her husband didn’t care about her, but I did.
Little did I expect Soren to grab my wrist just then. “You can’t leave! Even if our child died because of the fire, I know you have something to do with Jenna being forced to end her life! You and Juliet must go with Zach to the police station to be interrogated!”
That was when Zach snapped out of his daze. “That’s right! You two can’t leave! Jenna has always been kind and has good relations with her friends. Nobody would harm her.
“The only explanation is you two were jealous for no reason. You use such despicable means to trigger her into ending her life!” Much to our surprise, he even brought out two pairs of handcuffs.
I couldn’t help but let out a cold chuckle at their stupidity. “Did the parcel contain mine and Juliet’s names? Or did it have our phone numbers?”
Zach frowned. “Neither, but-”
“Well, I’m sure there are surveillance cameras near Jenna’s home, right? The box couldn’t have appeared in her home out of the blue. Someone must have given it to her, or maybe they left it at her door,” I said, scoffing.
Then, I added, “Soren’s the fire captain while you’re a cop. The two of you stayed by her side for days, yet you’re unaware of the truth. Instead, you’ve come to question your wives, who have respectively miscarried and aborted their babies in the hospital the entire time.”
The men froze.
Jenna was brought out on a stretcher at that moment.
“Jenna!” Soren ran over while Zach followed closely behind.
