Panic coursed through Soren. “No, Elsie, I-”
“Jules, I’m willing to divorce you!” Zach suddenly beat Soren to speak up first.
He put on a sincere expression while declaring, “I’ll do it because I respect you, and to save my pride. Besides, the law doesn’t state that it’s illegal for one to court one’s ex–wife after a divorce. Come on, then. Let’s get this divorce done now.”
Juliet was baffled at first, wondering if Zach had uttered such absurd words because he had lost his mind. Regardless, she decided to worry about it after the divorce.
Upon seeing that, Soren refused to lose to Zach. “I’ll divorce Elsie, too! I’m confident that I can win her back anyway!”
I couldn’t help but cock a brow at him as though I were staring at an idiot. That said, I shared Juliet’s sentiments–I had to focus on finalizing the divorce first.
It wasn’t long before Juliet and I held hands and exited the courthouse with our divorce papers. Our steps felt lighter, like a weight had been lifted off us.
Meanwhile, Soren and Zach raced toward us, smiling widely.
“Where would you like to go, Elsie? I’ll drive you there!” Soren offered.
“Get your facts right, Soren. We came here with my car!” Zach waved the car keys in midair. “I’m trying to ask Jules out on a date, so step aside!”
