Chapter 11 

Much to my surprise, Soren and Zach ended up in a standoff. They also occasionally glanced at Juliet and me as if fearing we would sneak away. 

However, we didn’t want to see these shameless men anymore. They were an utter waste of our breaths and lives. 

I briefly pondered before saying, “How about this? You’ll go and buy a bouquet of flowers each, but you have to run to the floris You aren’t allowed to drive or hail a cab. We’ll consider forgiving the person who returns first.” 

While saying that, I took out my phone. “I’ll start the timer now.” 

Juliet immediately caught on to my plan. She nodded at once, saying, “Yup! We’ll do just that!” 

“Okay, Jules!” 

“Don’t worry, Elsie! I’m a firefighter, and I undergo tremendous daily training. I’ll surely be faster than him!” 

Soren and Zach’s eyes lit up with hope after hearing my suggestion. Then, they bolted down the street like their life depended on it. 

Juliet and I shared a smile before speedily hailing a cab. We sat in the back and urged, “Sir, could you drive faster? There are two creeps following us!” 

We were long gone when Soren and Zach realized we had tricked them. Likewise, they could no longer reach our phones. That was because we had long bought new phone numbers and flight tickets to start a new life elsewhere. 

The next day, the news reported that Jenna was sentenced to ten years in prison for arson, false denunciation of a severe crime, and others. 

As for Soren and Zach, someone had recorded them arguing with me and Juliet at the hospital back then. The video was uploaded online, causing the two’s reputation to suffer. 

Not only did they get fired from their jobs, but they also had to serve prison time for six months. Their parents also publicly cut all ties with them after learning about the incidents. 

Despite how pitiful they ended, they deserved every bit of this outcome. 

Juliet and I moved to another city to open a flower shop together. We spent every day basking in the delightful floral scents while greeting customers with a smile. Our futures seemed much brighter and full of hope.
