Dad started tearing up. He then gave himself a harsh slap. “It’s all my fault. I knew the Palmers weren’t the best ones around, yet I still let you get close to Yohan. I’m the one person who has the least right to blame you!”
Mom pulled me over to the couch. “Just get a divorce if you want to, Naomi. We’ve seen how they treated you in the past years.”
She glanced at Samuel and me before continuing. “Let Samuel move in and take care of you, Naomi.”
I found it too troublesome for Samuel. Besides, why would I still need my younger brother to take care of me when I was already
an adult? “I can take care of myself.”
“It’s a miracle you haven’t poisoned yourself with that cooking skill of yours,” Mom said in disbelief.
I smiled sheepishly when she mentioned my cooking skills. I enjoyed being in the kitchen and experimenting with recipes.
Yohan and Julian would call them dark cuisines, but thankfully Samuel was fond of it, so this hobby remained with me until now.
Samuel glanced at me nervously. “You’ve never lived on your own before, Naomi. Besides, there’s still a lot at the company that needs to be handed over to you.”
I figured it made some sense. After all, I don’t even eat the food I make myself–I couldn’t possibly survive on takeouts alone. Plus, I just returned to the company, so there was still a lot I needed to go through with Samuel.
Not to mention that I now needed him to help clean up after Fluffy too.
Samuel looked relieved. Mom smiled and said, “Samuel’s the only one who still treats you like a child.”

I wanted to refute her words–he was the one who was childlike when he was with me.
I truly missed how he used to trail behind me when we were younger.
Despite being busy with work, I hadn’t felt fulfilled in a long time. I found myself energized whenever I went through the grind.
I worked a few extra hours before heading home. The lights were still on–Samuel was waiting for me to come home.
I had been used to waiting for Yohan to come home. This was the first time someone had waited for me with meals prepared.
Upon walking into the living room, I noticed that Samuel had fallen asleep while waiting for me. I quietly took a blanket and
walked over.
As I closed in, I was stunned. Samuel was lying on the single lounge chair. There was still plenty of space when I lay on it, yet he looked like he was sleeping on a child’s lounge chair with his long legs hanging off the edge.
He was all grown up now.
I had never thought about it in that way previously, but now that I was looking closely, I realized Samuel had a good physique.
I lowered my gaze and stared at his chest. I was so engrossed I was completely unaware he was already awake and looking at me.
