Chapter 26
The day Maisie was sentenced by the court, the first snow of the season fell in Northwatch.
Margot had always lived in the southern regions so she rarely experienced such heavy snow. She felt particularly excited.
She dragged Anya into the garden for a snowball fight, teasing the little girl until she pouted and vented her frustration at Dominic who stood by watching.
“It’s all your fault! Since Margot’s been with you so much, she’s turned just like you! She’s not the same gentle and loving person
she used to be. It’s all because of you!”
Anya squished a snowball and threw it at him.
He initially tried to dodge, but when he saw Margot laughing so hard she couldn’t stand up straight, he just stood there and let it
hit him.
Once Anya had gotten her fill of venting and ran into the living room, Dominic walked helplessly over to Margot. He gently placed
her freezing red hands onto his chest to warm them.
Margot coughed a few times and looked at him seriously.
“Anya was right. It’s all your fault. If you hadn’t corrupted me, how could someone as gentle, kind, and lovely as I possibly bully a
ten–year–old girl?”
Dominic nodded vigorously without caring about the specifics of what she said.
“Yes, it’s all my fault. It’s all because I set a bad example. Whatever punishment you want to lay on me, just go right ahead.”
Margot smiled in satisfaction.
