“No, no, this isn’t possible. It’s my fault. It’s all my fault. I should’ve known.”
I scoffed at his pathetic display.
The evidence was laid out before him, and only now did he believe me? The price I had paid was far too steep.
No matter how much he regretted it, he could never bring me back.
I found his grief–stricken behavior hilarious. Was this just a performance to make it seem like he had always cared?
It was just an attempt to wash away his sin.
I no longer wished to linger here. I didn’t want to see his pretenseful display of sorrow.
Kenneth’s expression darkened as he turned his glare to the man on the floor. He kicked him hard.
“Irene suffered horribly. Now, it’s your turn to feel the same!”
“Please don’t! I only did it for the money! She just told me to turn on the power. I swear, I didn’t know anything else!”
The man clung to Kenneth’s leg and begged for mercy.

Kenneth sneered and kicked him away.
“Spare you? Will sparing you bring Irene back?”
With a single command, the freezer was powered on. Kenneth stood outside and listened to the man’s desperate screams and
pleas.
He didn’t stop until the cries faded into silence.
‘Kenneth, you have no idea. That night, I screamed even longer than this.
‘That’s because I still had hope.
‘I held on, believing you would come for me.
‘But you never cared about me.
‘You had countless chances to return and save me.
‘Yet you never once chose to. You only ever forced me to follow your will, never once considering what I wanted.‘
“Bring Agnes here,” Kenneth ordered coldly.
Agnes never expected she would one day return to this place.
“Kenneth, why did you bring me here? Did something happen?”
“When you were locked in the storage unit, was it really Irene who did it?”
Kenneth stood with his back to her. His voice was eerily calm.
“I won’t blame her. I already forgave her. I know she didn’t mean to do it.”
Agnes’ voice trembled as she answered. Unable to see Kenneth’s expression, her fear grew.
“Kenneth, why did you suddenly bring this up today?”
Kenneth let out a cold chuckle. His laughter grew louder, more unhinged and like a man losing his mind.
“Suddenly? What are you so afraid of? Did you do something you don’t want me to find
out?”
