The Alpha Council considered this case extremely serious.
A targeted attack against an enforcer’s mate, a pregnant she–wolf at that.
The news had spread throughout the werewolf community,
Completely crossing the boundaries of acceptable behavior even among wolves!
If Aurora hadn’t tracked my location through our sister bond,
I would have surely died–two lives lost in one attack!

The Alpha twins stood frozen in place.

They hadn’t expected it to be a real attack; let alone a premeditated one orchestrated by the person they had trusted most.
When the bloody truth was laid bare before them, their reality completely shattered.
After providing our final statements to the enforcement division,
Aurora and I decided to drive home.
But just as we left the building, walking through the wooded path that led to the parking area,
A snarling figure lunged at us from the shadows, fangs bared and claws extended.
As the attacker drew closer in the moonlight, I finally recognized her–Victoria in her half–shifted form!
She hadn’t gone to the harbor at all but had been stalking us the entire time.
In the pale glow, Victoria’s features were twisted between human and wolf, her eyes glowing with hatred, her face contorted with
rage.
At this distance, there was no time to defend ourselves.
All I could do was push Aurora behind me and brace for the impact, knowing neither of us could shift to protect ourselves.
Then came a thunderous growl followed by the sound of bodies colliding, but I felt no pain.
“Aurora, are you alright? We’re somehow unharmed!”
Aurora hesitantly said:
“Aria… I think Alexander intercepted Victoria’s attack to save us. Look.”
Following her pointing finger, I saw two wolves locked in violent combat at the edge of the clearing…
In the pack healer’s den, Alexander insisted on seeing me despite his severe wounds.
“Aria, I’m sorry… I failed you. I failed our pup too. This is all my fault. I’m so sorry.”
“You… you’re not hurt, that’s good. When I heal, could you give me another chance? Please, Aria, can you?”
My lips curved into a cold smile as I indifferently withdrew my hand from his bloodied one.
“No. There’s no future for us anymore. Now it’s finally your turn to experience the suffering I endured!”
Turning around, I saw Ethan standing at Aurora’s side, his clothes torn and stained from helping subdue Victoria, begging.
“Love, I was wrong. I truly understand my mistake now. Don’t leave me, please. I’m scum! I’m less than nothing! I even defended the witch who caused our pup’s death! You can hit me, curse me, anything–just don’t leave me. I’m begging you.”
Aurora didn’t even acknowledge him, simply getting into the car and leaving.

Ethan tried to follow, but his strength gave out, and he fell behind.
As we drove away, I glanced in the rearview mirror at the twins–one in an ambulance, one on his knees in the street.
“Do you think they really understand what they did?” Aurora asked quietly.
I kept my eyes on the road. “No. They’re just sorry they got caught, sorry they lost their perfect little world where Victoria was
innocent and we were
hysterical.”
