After enjoying more than ten days of peace and freedom, my phone buzzed with an unknown number. As soon as I answered, Jason’s furious voice came through.
“Emma, after everything you’ve done, you have audacity to block our entire family’s number? What are you trying to do? You’ve gone too far…”
I moved the phone further from my ear, about to hang up when he spoke again.
“Wait a minute, I haven’t finished talking! We’ve moved back to the old house for days now. Why haven’t you come back? Where are you?”
“I’ll be wherever I want, you can’t control me.”
Jason shouted angrily, “Emma, you’re married now. You’re my wife, the daughter–in–law of the
Zhou family. You’ve been gone for so long. Have you thought about how your family is doing? How can you be so irresponsible? And on top of that, how much are you spending on food and lodging outside? I order you to come back immediately!”
“Don’t waste your breath, I’m not coming back. And I spend my own money. It’s none of your business.”
“Then what about your big sister? Aren’t you going to care about her? Her ex–husband came looking for her, and she’s sick again.” He tried to blackmail me emotionally, but I was no way getting into his trap.
“If she’s sick, you can take care of her. She’s your big sister, not mine. What does that have to do with me? Besides, didn’t she complain that I forced her to take medicine? Well, I’m done forcing her from now on.”
“Emma, I think you’ve had enough of a good life.” Jason’s voice turned high–pitched. “I’m giving you three hours. If I don’t see you at home by tonight, we’ll get a divorce.”
What a great opportunity!
I immediately laughed. “Don’t worry, you definitely won’t see me. Oh, by the way, I’ve already signed the divorce agreement. It’s in the drawer by your bed. Just sign it yourself.”
Jason probably rushed to the room and got the divorce paper.
“Emma, are you serious?” He asked in disbelief,
“Why?! Is there something wrong?“Jason was stunned for a minute, then suddenly started laughing.
“Emma, you would divorce me just because Llet Noah stay in Ava’s room? Who would believe that? Isn’t it just because you’re jealous of Grace? You want me to comfort you? Now you’ve learned to threaten me with not coming home, huh?”
His voice again softened. “Emma, listen to me. If you come back and apologize for throwing our things away, I won’t hold it against you. But if you keep pushing, don’t blame me for signing the papers and letting your little scheme fail.”
“Jason, are you dumb? Don’t you understand? I am the one who wants a divorce now. No more nonsense, just sign the papers.”
“Also, the old house you’re living in was bought before our marriage. I’m giving you two weeks to find a place to stay. After two weeks, if you’re still there, I’ll throw you out.” I sniggered.
“Emma, you know my temper. Don’t push me.” He said, his voice grating.
