Chapter 10
From the driver’s seat, James could feel the icy chill emanating from the back.
He swallowed nervously, forcing a smile.
“I just meant… sir, now that Mrs. Graham won’t be bothering you anymore, isn’t that worth celebrating? You always complained about her calling multiple times a day, asking when you’d be home, when you’d be back for dinner. Now no one will be checking up on you. That’s a relief, right? Ha ha!”
James’s nervous laughter only made the atmosphere more unsettling.
Travis’s eyes, cold as steel, stayed fixed on him, making his skin crawl.
When Nicole arrived at Alexander’s office building, she saw him waiting, one hand in his pocket, the other behind his back, walking toward her with a smile.
“Congratulations on finally breaking free from your chains!“”
He brought his hidden hand forward, presenting her with a bouquet.
It was a cluster of purple–blue hyacinths.
Alexander raised an eyebrow and added, “Here’s to your rebarth!”
Nicole’s lips curved slightly. “Thank y you.‘
Taking the flowers, she breathed in their rich, distinct fragrance, her smile widening. Yes, she was finally free.
The black Maserati glided into its parking space.
James smoothly unbuckled his seatbelt, got out, and opened the rear door.
A long, straight leg emerged from the car.
Travis, his face dark, tucked the divorce papers into his pocket. As he started to stride forward, he caught sight of a man and woman standing face to face in the plaza near the office building.
The man was strikingly handsome with an air of confidence tall and straight–backed in his perfectly tailored black suit.
One hand in his pocket, he occasionally adjusted his gold–rimmed glasses, smiling warmly at the woman before him.
The woman held the flowers in both hands, wearing a pale blue floral dress under a fitted white T–shirt. Her figure was tall and graceful, with curves in all the right places and a waist so slim it looked like it could be circled by one hand.
Her wavy hair fell like seaweed over her shoulders, creating beautiful ripples as the breeze caught it.
In the sunlight, her skin was like snow, and her clear dark eyes curved into crescents as she smiled.
Seeing her smiling at another man, Travis stormed toward hem.
James noticed too his boss’s ex wife was chatting and lau hing with their business rival, Alexander Hayes.
He wondered how Nicole, who had supposedly loved Travis so deeply, could be so intimate with the Hayes heir right after their divorce:
Then again, remembering his boss’s emotional abuse towa 1Nicole, James felt happy for her.

As an outsider, he had always thought Travis treated Nicole terribly.
The divorce was probably best for both of them.
But Travis’s next actions left James stunned.
Travis stormed over, seized Nicole’s wrist, and roughly yanked her aside.
Caught off guard, Nicole nearly fell from the force.
When she realized it was Travis who had grabbed her, she demanded furiously, “What’s wrong with you?”
The shock and anger in her eyes was clear to anyone watching – she was disgusted by Travis’s behavior.
Travis felt his heart twist. He tightened his grip on her wrist, his voice a controlled roar, “What’s wrong with me? Nicole, I wondered why you were so eager to divorce. Now I get it – you’ve been sleeping with Alexander Hayes! You’ve been cheating on me?”
