Chapter 7
Leo’s face turned pale, but it was Cheryl who spoke first. “Why are you cursing them, Lyra? How could you say something so cruel?
“I never knew you were such a vicious woman. And to think they love you so much… Are you really going to forget all of that just like that?”
I glanced at Cheryl, then turned to Leo, who was seething with rage. “Haven’t you had enough of this farce, Lyra?” Still calm, I repeated, “Are you going to attend or not?”
Amidst his fury, Leo shoved me and yelled, “Enough! I can stand you anymore, you madwoman! You need to see a psychiatrist!”
I decided to let his violent outburst slide. After all, it was his parents who had died, not mine.
“In any case, I’ve already informed you about their funeral. I’m going to implement the financial agreement and hold the ceremony to annul our bond in a week,” I told him.
I turned to leave, while Cheryl picked up the agreement that had slipped out of my bag and landed by the side of the bed.
“Are you crazy, Lyra?! It says here that all of Leo’s money and assets will belong to you! This is madness!”
Cheryl seemed delirious, as though I had just taken her money.
I supposed that was true,
I supposed that was true, considering she probably thought she was the one who deserved to be Leo’s Luna and take his wealth.
Leo grabbed the agreement and, in complete disbelief, read its contents. “What’s the meaning of this?”
I looked him dead in the eyes and replied, “Those are Mom and Dad’s instructions.”
“Impossible!” Leo and Cheryl said in unison, their eyes meeting briefly in shared embarrassment.
“Go ahead and call them if you don’t believe me,” I said.
Leo quickly took out his phone and tried to call Vera first, but her phone was off. Then, he tried to call Victor, but his phone was also off.
At that moment, Leo finally realized that neither of them was home, and he called to the housekeeper.
“Where are Mom and Dad?” he asked.
Sarah, the housekeeper, already knew about their passing. She slowly turned toward me when Leo asked that.
“Why are you looking at her? Where are they?” he demanded.
