The sight gave me chills.

I stepped back, accidentally bumping into a vase. It crashed to the floor, shattering into sharp pieces.
The noise startled Ruth awake.
The moment she saw me, she tensed up, like a cornered animal ready to attack.
She lunged from the bed, straining against the chains, but they yanked her back before she could reach me.
“Witch! Die! DIE!” she snarled, her mangled tongue twisting her words into garbled rage.
The nurse behind me let out a long sigh. “She doesn’t even recognize her own sister anymore.”
I turned to the nurse, putting on a sad, concerned look. “Please, do whatever you can to help her, Electrotherapy, medication–whatever works. I just want to see Ruth lucid again.”
The nurse nodded and patted my shoulder. “We’ll do our best, dear. You’re such a caring sister.”
As left the hospital and hopped into a cab back to campus, my phone buzzed. Some classmates invited me to join them at an internet café to play games. I smiled and declined.
This life is all about

I know I can reach the heights I hit before–maybe even higher.
For now, I’m just an ordinary college student, focused on building my future.
