His eyes turned red as he said slowly, “I wanted to see you, so I…‘
I pinched the space between my brows but did not take the apple. My wedding was the following day, and I was due for a break after that. Simon should be discharged by the time I return to work, and I would finally be free from him.
My shift ended with me placating Simon. Aaron was already waiting for me by the hospital entrance. He jogged over to me and held my hand, saying softly, “You’re officially on holiday now! At last, the great Dr. Langston has
time for her beloved husband.”
I snaked my arms around his waist and took a deep breath. Thummed in response and said tiredly, “I finally get to take a breather. I’m exhausted.”
Aaron eyed me worriedly and asked me if anything was wrong. I gave him a brief run–down of Simon’s shenanigans at the hospital. Having heard the full story, he grew grim and pulled me into his arms.
“Get some rest. I’ll talk to Simon after he’s been discharged.” Aaron said darkly. He had always taken care of my problems and stood up for me. Upon hearing his solemn promise, I happily let him handle matters on my behalf.
Upon returning home, I burrowed under the covers and slept through the night. I wouldn’t have bothered getting up the next morning for my bridal make–up and styling had my parents not dragged me out of bed.
The wedding venue had been set up exactly as I had envisioned. Even the wedding dress had been tailor–made by a high–end fashion designer from abroad.
Aaron had promised to give me the best when we first started dating. He wanted to make up for all the hurt I went through in my last relationship, and he had proven himself over the years.
Unfortunately, Simon showed up, suited and wheelchair–bound, just before Aaron and I could exchange our
wedding vows.
He held a bouquet of fresh flowers as he stared at me and said, “Olive, I won’t let you marry anyone else! You were my wife in both lives. You will only marry me!”
The audience burst into an uproar while Aaron glowered at Simon, his hand tightening around mine. I patted his hand gently and picked up my dress as I walked off the stage.
Simon’s eyes glittered with glee. He seemed to think that I was choosing him. I stopped before him and lowered my head to meet his gaze. Snorting, I raised my hand and slapped him hard across the face without hesitation.
I seethed, “My wedding was perfect until you ruined it, Simon! How dare you show up before me again! And what

made you think I would choose you? Did you think I was charmed by your shameless, manipulative ways?”
Simion cupped his cheek as he gaped at me in disbelief. “Olive, we were given two shots at life! That can only mean one thing! The world revolves around us. I can do and have whatever I want as long as I wish for it! It worked on Yasmin, and it will work on you, too!”
I shot him an icy look before slowly backing off. “What are you talking about? I don’t understand.”
He suddenly reached out and grabbed my arm, his expression maniacal as he said, “I was wrong for cheating on you with Yasmin in the past life, Olive. You got mad at us and drove into us so that we’d all die in that car crash.
“When we woke up, we found ourselves transported back in time to when we just got married! I thought I loved Yasmin, so I left you for her.

“Now I know how foolish I was. I’ve been in love with you all along! I want to spend my life with you!”
My lips curled as I countered, “What in the world are you babbling about?”
Behind us, Aaron finally lost his patience and charged toward us. He swatted Simon’s hand away and pulled me into his embrace. “Call the cops! Tell them a madman crashed our wedding!” he barked at the security guards.
Simon’s gaze darkened as he fixed a murderous look at Aaron. He looked like he was about to pounce. “What did you call me? I was telling the truth! Aaron, you’re just a wife–stealer, and you will pay for this!”
1 heaved a sigh. “Simon, I didn’t think you’d be so distraught after Yasmin was thrown behind bars. Listen, Aaron and I will overlook you ruining our wedding. We’ll also have you treated at a proper facility until you recover.”
The security guards came over to wheel Simon out as if on cue. Only then did he begin to panic. “What do you mean by that, Olive? I’m not sick! I really do love you! Don’t do this to me, please! I’m sorry!”
His voice faded as he was escorted out the door. Aaron took my hand and led me slowly up the stage once more.
We exchanged rings and kissed to seal our vows. We thanked the misfortunes of our pasts for the blessings we reaped in the present.
As for Simon, I reckoned he would be stuck in an asylum for long–term treatment. After all, the world didn’t revolve around anyone. But we could always be the main characters in our own stories.
