I froze.
“She’s your cousin?”
Kian didn’t answer.
Instead, he simply grabbed my hand and kept walking.
His grip was scorching hot, or maybe it was mine.
All I knew was that my face was probably just as red.
And the heart I thought had long turned cold was burning all over again.
The drive back was fast, a little too fast.
Kian barely slowed down, cutting through the streets with sharp precision.
In what felt like seconds, we were already home.
As soon as we got out of the car, Kian’s hand found mine again.
For a split second, I froze.
What was going on?
I had no idea why he was acting like this.
Was he trying to comfort me? Or had he heard something he wasn’t supposed to?
But the urgency in his expression made me hesitate to ask.
The moment we stepped inside, his breathing grew heavier and before I could react, he grabbed my shoulders and shoved me against the wall.
“Sora. That love letter you gave to a senior in high school-
His voice was low, intense.
“It wasn’t meant for her, was it?”
My mind went completely blank.
How does he know?
Had he overheard Wade’s drunken rambling?
I lowered my gaze, refusing to answer.
His grip tightened. A sharp sting of pain shot through my shoulder.
“Answer me.”
I exhaled shakily.
“No. It wasn’t for her.”
“Who was it for?”
Kian’s voice was firm, demanding.
I hesitated.

Then, my lips curled into a bitter smile.
“Does it even matter?”
I glanced up at him and something in his eyes struck me.
Just moments ago, they had been burning, bright and expectant.
But now, it was like watching a star fall from the sky.
A strange bravery surged in me.
I lifted my head, locking eyes with him.
Kian’s gaze was intense, streaked with red from emotion.
I took a slow breath, and finally said it.
“It was for you.”
Kian froze.
A flicker of disbelief crossed his face.
“What?”
“It was for you, Kian. The letter was meant for you. I asked her to give it to you.‘
There.
I finally said it.

The silent, unspoken crush of my youth–the secret that had lived in my heart for years- would end tonight.
Kian stared at me, speechless.
His expression unreadable.
The silence stretched.
My fingers clenched at my sides.
“If you think it’s disgusting… I… I can resign. I won’t bother you again.”
I forced out the words like I was standing before a judge, awaiting my sentence.
Even though I already knew, I had no reason to hope for mercy.
