Chapter 7 Cut Ties
When I heard his words, I gritted my teeth and replied, “It was you who left me to die first!”
From the accident until now, he had never shown me even the slightest bit of kindness. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been so
ruthless.
I had no intention of arguing with Dominic any longer. So, I immediately blocked all his and his family’s contact.
Paige had been handed over to the prosecutor’s office and was sentenced to seven years in prison. In the meantime, she also had to compensate me with one million.
After the trial, I approached her and asked, “Was it fun to use a car accident as a ploy for affection, Paige?”
Paige glared at me fiercely and snarled, “You’re lucky you are alive and happened to have a hidden camera installed. Otherwise,
you would have been the one who lost!”
When I heard her words, I smiled. “Is that so? However, it’s useless even if you are the final winner. After all, Dominic is poor.
Once we get a divorce, he’ll be left with nothing. If I die unexpectedly, all my inheritance will be donated to the Red Cross. Neither
of you will get a single penny!”
Paige was a materialistic person. When she heard my words, she was furious and regretful.
“You set me up, Carlee! You deserve to die!” She charged toward me as if I was the one who schemed.
However, the officers quickly restrained her before she could even lay her fingers on me.
I smiled and walked toward the exit.
To my surprise, I saw Dominic again outside the courthouse a month later.
His lab funding had been cut off, and he hadn’t found a new sponsor. His family was being sued by my company for nearly four
million in compensation, and Paige had been sent to prison.
With all these misfortunes, his hair had turned slightly white from all the pressure.
Dominic blocked my way and growled, “Are you satisfied now?”
Now, I could finally face him with a calm heart. “Not quite. After all, we’re not divorced yet, and you’re still alive.”
“Your demand for me to leave with nothing is too much!” Dominic was infuriated. “I won’t agree to it. Even though your parents
left you a vast inheritance, my family has helped you protect that wealth over the years. I’ve worked alongside you all this time.
You should at least give me a third of your assets!”
