Dominic was working on a chip. If things went well, the patent fees alone would make him a fortune. However, chip research was extremely costly. Thus, the 30 million didn’t give him much to work with. In the end, his project was forced to a halt.
As a result, the school decided to evict him from the lab without sufficient funding.
To make matters worse, his family had grown accustomed to living extravagantly off my support for years, with their high spending habits and disdain for regular jobs.
Ever since they were fired from my company, they complained that regular jobs didn’t pay enough and continued to laze around as they lived off their savings.
When they spent all their savings, they turned to Dominic for help. They didn’t believe Dominic had spent all the 30 million and suspected he had pocketed the money.
Then, they kept pestering him and even went to the school to report Dominic’s affairs when the latter refused to give them money. The scandal was so severe that the school even temporarily suspended Dominic.
Dominic had never faced so much hardship ever since he got together with me.
Then, he came to me and said sadly, “Carlee, I was misled by my family and Paige. That’s why I hurt you. I’ve now realized my mistakes. Let’s get back together, okay? I promise I’ll change.”
