I replied, “This is the last lesson I will give you as your mother. I hope you never speak harshly to those you love or who love you. You have to learn to respect others, and they’ll respect you in return. People leave when they’re hurt.”
Julian collapsed onto the ground and sobbed uncontrollably. He clutched the hem of my skirt tightly.

I helped Julian up and said, “It’s a fact that your father and I have already separated, Julian. I will never return to that house

He wiped his tears away and asked, “Mommy, if you don’t want Daddy, I don’t want him either. If you won’t come visit me, can I still come visit you in the future? I promise to be good.”
“This is up to you,” I replied.
