The enforcers were experienced investigators. The situation was becoming increasingly clear to them.
There was only one real possibility: I was already dead.
Watching them come to this realization, I felt a wave of relief. Finally! Go find my body before it becomes nothing but bones and
terrifies you all.
The chief enforcer brought their latest findings to my father.
“Mr. Morgan, we now suspect that Scarlett may have met with foul play. We need your full cooperation with our investigation,” he stated gravely.
My father scoffed at the suggestion. “Impossible. She was just attacking Elise. How could she be dead?”
“But before the attack on your mate, Scarlett seemed to vanish completely from the world. No purchase records, no communication traces–nothing at all. Mr. Morgan, does that seem possible to you for a living person?”
The enforcer’s face was deadly serious, but my father remained dismissive. “Of course it’s possible. I canceled all her cards, so naturally there would be no purchase records. She has plenty of friends who could give her money to live on.”
“We’ve investigated those friends too. None of them have seen Scarlett for weeks, and there are no bank transfers to her. She’s
vanished like a ghost.”
Hearing this, my father laughed derisively. “Sounds like your enforcement team is simply incompetent. Can’t even find one girl.”
“Mr. Morgan, please mind your tone,” a younger enforcer snapped, stepping forward with anger in his eyes.
The chief held him back with one arm, about to speak when his phone suddenly rang.
“What? Yes, send me the video right away. I’m at the Morgan residence now.”
After ending the call, the chief’s gaze became razor–sharp, like a predatory hawk spotting prey.
“Mr. Morgan, we’ve received information that Scarlett is in this mansion right now. Has been all along.”
My father froze for two seconds. “That’s absurd. Search the house if you want. She’s not here.”
The chief didn’t respond immediately. Instead, he watched a video that had just been sent to his phone.
He turned up the volume so everyone in the room could hear it clearly.
“Tie her up!” My father’s voice rang out from the recording.
“Let her stay here and think about what she’s done!”
My father lurched to his feet, eyes wide with shock and dawning horror.
