Chapter 5
Bruce came to his senses, unable to believe what he was seeing. He looked at Aaron’s arm wrapping around my waist in jealousy,
yet he did not dare to go up against Aaron.
He glared at me.
Just when he wanted to say something, my mother walked over.
Aaron took me to my mother and said with utmost respect, “Thank you for letting me marry Nancy. I’ll take good care of her.”
Tears welled up in my mother’s eyes. “Your vow relieves me. She was blind in the past to fall for the wrong guy.” My mother then
glanced at the shocked Bruce.
He came to his senses and immediately ran to me. He shook me by the shoulders. “No, no! Babe, are you blaming me for not paying enough attention to you recently? Is this your way of making me pay? We are about to get married. You’re joking, right?”
Aaron’s parents appeared at that moment too. They were furious that Bruce had his hands on me.
“Let go of Nancy! Who the hell do you think you are, Bruce? How dare you touch our daughter–in–law?!”
With all of our parents there, everyone finally believed that I was no doubt Aaron’s fiancee.
Kerry was seething mad with jealousy. She stood up and said loudly, “Don’t be mistaken, Mr. Blake! She’s just a blind woman Bruce doesn’t want. How could she ever be good enough for you? How could you take in another man’s trash?”
Aaron shot her a glare. Someone immediately went up to Kerry and covered her mouth.
Aaron planted a kiss on my cheek. “Don’t listen to that psychotic woman.”
Bruce finally accepted the reality when he saw how intimate Aaron was with me. He slumped to the floor, muttering, “Why would you do this to me? Nancy, you loved me the most. You’d even sacrifice your eyesight for me. How could you betray me?
“I was stupid to think you’d be a pure, loyal woman. I never thought you’d so easily abandon me for money.”
I was trembling with rage at his baseless accusation.
“Bruce, did you know when I regained my eyesight?”
Bruce’s eyes widened as he stared at me.
“B–babe, is there a misunderstanding or something?”
“Three days ago. The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was you and Kerry on the couch together.
“I pretended I knew nothing about it and asked what you were doing. You replied to me with the thrill of sleeping together behind
my back that you two were exercising. It disgusted me.
“Later on, you went to your parents‘ place. Everyone congratulated you and Kerry on having a baby. Why would you bring a

person who has no wealth or connection like her to such an event? You’re trying to help her, right?”
