“Your ex–husband? The elderly patient looked utterly surprised, casting a sideways glance at Travis. ‘Why are you still taking care of him and tolerating his attitude after your divorce?”
Sometimes, blunt words carry deep wisdom.
Nicole secretly chuckled, watching Travis’s face turn green with anger.
Lucy quickly tried to explain to the elderly man, “One day of marriage means a hundred days of kindness. Besides, Nicole was once part of the Graham family…” Her voice trailed off before she could complete “adopted child.”
“Miss, forgive me for being direct, but what exactly is your relationship with Mr. Graham?” the patient asked sharply, cutting her off mid–sentence.
The question left Lucy speechless. She looked expectantly a Travis, hoping he would clarify their relationship verbally.
Of course, she hoped for the answer she wanted to hear. After all, Travis had divorced Nicole, and if he truly loved her, he should publicly acknowledge their relationship.
Noticing Lucy’s silent, adoring gaze, the elderly patient snorted. “I’m asking you a question. Why are you staring at Mr. Graham? Are you perhaps the infamous mistress?”
His remark stunned everyone in the room, including Nicole
Lucy’s face turned crimson, her eyes filling with hurt. “Sir, I’m not! I’ve known Travis for a very long time!”
Travis finally broke his silence. “Sir, please don’t speak about things you don’t understand. Such comments can be hurtful.”
“Who’s being hurtful here? You divorced Nicole, yet you still boss her around! This shows exactly how you treated her during your marriage! A perfectly good woman, and you neither cherished nor respected her. You’re utterly blind!”
The elderly patient unleashed a passionate, critical tirade directly at Travis.
Travis couldn’t find a way to refute the accusations.
His elite upbringing had only taught him how to do business and look out for his own interests, but never how to argue effectively.
So he could only sit there with a poker face in a bathroom, coldly glaring at the elderly patient.
The patient, seeing Travis remain silent and sullen, became even more emboldened.
He pointed at Lucy, his face filled with indignation, “Young lady, you’re quite calculating. The fact that you can’t explain your relationship with Mr. Graham shows you’re guilty! You’re most likely the reason behind his divorce from Miss Spencer! Let me tell you, if you dare mistreat Miss Spencer right under my nose, I’ll make sure you regret it!”
Lury, suddenly finding herself the target of the patient’s anger, immediately burst into tears.
“I’m not a home wrecker…” she sobbed.
The elderly patient, far from being moved, just clicked his tongue.
“Crying, crying that’s all you women know! If you’re tru wronged, speak up! What’s the point of just crying? If you can’t explain yourself, it means you’re guilty!”

Chapter 25
Nicole stood nearby, stunned but touched by the patient’s spirited defense of her.
Seeing Lucy crying uncontrollably, Nicole tried to calm the situation, gently tugging the patient’s arm. “Enough, these are past matters.”
“Nicole, how dare you let an old man bully Lucy!” Travis’s angry accusation came immediately after her words.
Nicole found Travis utterly unreasonable and retorted, “Which eye of yours saw me letting the patient bully Lucy?
She was frustrated that Travis would always assume she was bullying Lucy whenever Lucy cried.
Travis glared at Nicole, his anger churning like molten lava ready to erupt.
“This patient has been speaking up for you and made Lucy dry, and you say you’re not bullying her! Nicole, you’re. still so malicious!”
“Who dares bully my daughter!” A sharp, aggressive female voice rang out from the doorway.
