My breath hitched. “What… what do you mean?”
“During your pregnancies, where did you spend most of your time? Was there any distinct scent you remember?”
The room felt suddenly airless. My mind whirled, trying to grasp the implications of his words. I had always believed that I had lost my children because my body was too weak to carry them.
But now he was telling me… it had been because of poison?
I forced myself to think, to push past the storm rising inside me. Slowly, I answered, “I spent the most time in the greenhouse. The most distinct scent… was the fragrance of flowers.”

Stran nodded slightly, as if a puzzle piece had clicked into place. “Floral scents, pollen–yes, that fits. The symptoms align
perfectly. The drug must have been hidden in the flowers, and when you inhaled it, it caused the miscarriages.”
Flowers.
A slow, suffocating realization crept over me. In the castle where I had lived, every single flower had been personally sent by Giselle.
My fingers curled into fists.
It wasn’t fate, nor was it an accident.
Giselle had done this to me deliberately. She had murdered my children before they ever had a chance to live.
Pain, raw and unbearable, tore through my chest. My whole body trembled as I turned to Talassa, my voice hoarse. “It was her,” I choked out. “Giselle… she did this to me.”
Talassa’s expression darkened instantly. Anger flashed in her eyes, sharp and unrestrained.
“Then what are we waiting for?” she spat.
We didn’t hesitate. Without another word, we turned our horses toward the Avalora Pack territory.
This time, Giselle would answer for what she had done.
