Chapter 13
The bodyguard behind Gabriel quickly rushed forward to cover Hannah’s mouth.
In a hospital ward, the shaken Anthony cried non–stop after opening his eyes, repeatedly asking for Andrea.
Gabriel’s heart ached as he watched Anthony cry. He hugged Anthony and consoled, “Be a good boy. Once you’re better, I’ll take you to
go find Mom, okay?”
However, Anthony did not seem to hear him. He recalled his teachers‘ and classmates‘ criticism, Hannah’s remark, and the photos displayed on the advertisement billboards. “Daddy, did Mom abandon us because we went to see Ms. Jennings behind her back?”
Anthony did not understand the concept of infidelity. All he knew was Gabriel often took him to meet Hannah in secret or and that he often begged Gabriel to take him to Hannah to get treats Andrea would not approve of or toys Andrea refused to buy.
Seeing the state Anthony was in, Gabriel felt as though a hand had gripped his heart. It was so painful that it left him breathless. If he had not acted on impulse, perhaps Anthony would not have suffered this.
Gabriel wanted to speak but hesitated. After a long pause, he stroked Anthony’s head and bitterly replied, “Yes, we made a mistake. That’s why your mom left us. So we’ll find her and apologize.”
However, where could he find Andrea? From August to October, the Fulton family had sent out countless people to search for her, but no one found her.
One day, Gabriel’s assistant called and said, “Mr. Fulton, we’ve found Mrs. Fulton.”
Gabriel and Anthony did not even hear the rest of the assistant’s remark. They rushed to the address sent by the assistant.
When they arrived, Gabriel and Anthony froze instantly.
It was a crematorium!
Gabriel’s expression sank instantly as he grabbed his assistant by the collar. “Are you kidding me? Why is Andrea at the crematorium?”
With their face full of grief, the assistant handed him a stack of papers. “Mr. Fulton, take a look at this first.”
Gabriel took it in confusion, only to stumble back a few steps and sit down in the chair behind him after reading the terminal illness confirmation and cremation confirmation.
He read that Andrea had been diagnosed with a terminal illness a long time ago and had booked a slot at the crematorium two weeks ago.
Half a month ago… This was when he came to the crematorium with Hannah! That time, he asked Andrea why she was at the crematorium, but she only brushed it off.
