I was speechless.
“That day, I didn’t say or do anything. You just lost your mind. My brother even took a few of your blows to stop you.”
I continued to keep quiet.
“You and my brother were already married, remember? You were married to him four years ago.
“Sigh, I’m telling you all this, but you’ll probably forget it all anyway.”
Serena sighed.
I knew that she really hated me.
After all, with her prideful nature, how could she stand being misunderstood?
I pushed open the hospital room door.
Ethan was still unconscious.
I sat beside him, carefully tracing his features, from the bridge of his nose to his lips.
The night was quiet, and Serena had left.
For the past few days, I just sat by his bedside, keeping watch.
By some strange impulse, I leaned in and kissed his lips.
As I kissed him, something stirred inside me.
It felt like he had responded to my kiss.
I snapped my eyes open.
In the dim light, Ethan’s dark eyes stared back at me–deep and heavy.
“Crying again? My little crybaby.”
I heard his voice–hoarse, light, and teasing.
It took me back to high school when I’d failed a test and cried like a mess.
He’d pinch my cheek and call me a little crybaby.
Thinking of this, I cried even harder.
I called out his name over and over again.
