“Love you, Mom.” His small hand squeezed mine. “Promise you’ll be okay?”
His heart stopped before I could answer.
My howl of grief shook the entire pack lands.

Emma tried to hold me. “Sister, please=”
“They killed my baby!” I screamed. “My innocent little boy!”
Alexander’s rage made the air crackle. “The Storm Shadow Pack will pay-”
“No.” My voice was dead. Empty. “Ryan will pay.”
Because in the end, it wasn’t Katherine who killed my son.
It was the mate who should have protected him.
The father who chose another woman’s child over his own.
And no amount of vengeance would bring my Marcus back.
But by all the gods, I would make them remember why you never harm a mother wolf’s pup.
Even if it took my last breath.
After Marcus’s death, I stayed in the Blood Moon Pack’s healing den for two weeks. The healers tried to feed me, but food tasted
like ash in my mouth.
Ryan never called. Never came. Perhaps he didn’t even know our son was dead. Or perhaps he was too busy playing family with
Sarah and Jamie to care.
My grief had hardened into something darker. Something that tasted like vengeance.
“I need to get his things,” I told Emma one morning, my voice raw from howling at the moon. “Marcus’s favorite books. His wol
pendant. The one he wore every night.”
Alexander insisted on accompanying us to the Storm Shadow Pack lands.
The villa was alive with activity – servants hanging silver and blue decorations, Katherine directing preparations for some
celebration.
Her voice rang out, ordering fresh flowers and champagne.
Her eyes turned to ice when she saw us. “Your belongings are there.” She pointed to two bags dumped outside like garbage, already collecting dirt and dew.
Alexander’s growl shook the ground. “You dare-”
“My nephew is dead,” Emma’s voice cracked with fury, her small frame trembling. “He was eight years old. And you’re throwin
a party?”
Katherine’s lip curled. “The weak pup’s death has nothing to do with us. Be grateful we’re letting you take her things, Alpha Stone. A slut who breeds killers deserves far worse.”
Emma lunged forward, claws extended, but I caught her arm.
“Let me get Marcus’s things,” I whispered, the words burning my throat. “Then we never have to see them again.”
We turned to leave, but fate wasn’t done torturing me.
The front door opened.
Ryan stood there, frozen at the sight of me.
Sarah stood beside him, triumphant. Jamie stood between them, with Ryan’s Beta token around his neck.
