Chapter 7
Jasper exclaimed, “I won’t agree! Ari, when we got married, didn’t we agree that we’d only be apart in death? We said that we would never be separated!”
He was looking at me with what he thought of as a tender look in his eyes, but I only felt repulsed.
“Psh! Is that the reason why you’re cheating on her in broad daylight?” Tyler was so angry that he wanted to hit Jasper.
I said coldly to him, “Go away. I don’t want to see you. I’m going to sue for a divorce.”
Jasper was about to say something else, but he was called away by a phone call. Before he left, he gave me a concerned look. “I
won’t disrupt your rest for now. I’ll come and visit you tomorrow.”
It was Nicole who had called because just a minute before the call came, she had sent me a message to provoke me.
“Don’t get smug. I can get Jaspie back by my side with just one phone call.”
I unblocked Jasper and sent the message to him before blocking him once more.
Men were very strange sometimes. The colder you were to them, the more they wanted to be near you.
When I was in love with him and wanted him to be with me, he’d been busy keeping Nicole company. But now that I no longer
loved him, he had cast Nicole aside and was acting as if he loved me very much.
While I was in hospital, Jasper would come and stay for at least half the day with me. Apart from bringing up our divorce, I did not
say a single word to him.
He still refused to agree. Nicole began making even more of a fuss, and sometimes I would see scratches on his face and neck.
However, he never missed a day in coming to the hospital to tell me about the baby.
Men really were great at time management.
That day, Jasper handed me my mother’s emerald pendant. “I got the emerald pendant back for you.”
I laughed contemptuously. “Is that so? Should I thank you?”
Jasper looked sincere. “Ari, I know you still blame me. I just felt too sorry for Nicole. She was alone abroad for all those years, and
it was very difficult for her.
“We grew up together, and I just wanted to take more care of her. I neglected the way it made you feel. Don’t worry, I won’t do it in the future. Let’s live a good life together, alright?”
I ignored him, so he placed a beautifully wrapped gift in front of me, looking mysterious. “Don’t you miss the baby? Open it, hurry. It’s about the baby.”
I unwrapped it expressionlessly. It was a frame with the baby’s footprint in it. I rubbed the tiny footprint, and my eyes moistened.

Jasper grabbed the opportunity and put his arm around my shoulders. “If you want a baby, we can have a few more. Why are you crying? I made Nicole prepare this gift specially for you. She even wrapped it herself.
