from you, what right do you have to repeatedly bully my wife?
“I’m telling you now. I don’t love you. I only love Hailey!”
Joshua took the document his assistant handed him and threw it in Olivia’s face.
“The total loss for the gallery is 3.68 million. Since you are my ex–wife, I’ll give you a discount–300,000 is all we’ll ask for.”
Olivia finally realized that Joshua wasn’t joking.
She clung to his leg and pleaded with him.
“Josh, I know I was wrong! Please give me another chance! –”
Before she could finish, Joshua kicked her and looked toward the security guards.
“Get her out of here.”
“Why? Why are you treating me this way?
“You scumbag! Do you remember how you promised my parents that you would take care of me for life? My mom and dad will never let you off the hook!”
“If it weren’t for me, the Wylde family would have been finished long ago. If they want to seek revenge, they can come after me!
“Oh, I forgot to mention, your family has gone bankrupt. They should be close to being homeless by now!”
Olivia was shocked into silence.

She stumbled out on her own.
On the way home, Joshua hesitated several times, as if he wanted to say something. The driver sensed the awkward atmosphere and found a place to pull over. Then he stepped out for a smoke.
“You don’t believe me anymore, do you, Hailey?
“If it weren’t for your bodyguards telling me you went to see her, would you have told me?”
Joshua sounded defeated.
He had been busy, coming home every night around one or two in the morning.
I knew he wanted to seek justice for me and avenge our child, and I understood that none of this was his fault. But I still couldn’t get past that mental barrier. As parents, we had both failed in our responsibilities.
I covered my face, tears falling into my palms.
Joshua cupped my face with both hands, his expression filled with pain. “Hailey, don’t punish yourself! It’s all my fault. I didn’t protect you both!
“I’m sorry, Hailey, I’m so sorry!”
We held each other tightly in the car and cried.
The pain embedded in our hearts finally disappeared.
I forgave Joshua and allowed myself to heal.
