My acceptance to Alpha College came quickly.
Daniel’s wounds were far worse than mine–silver takes longer to heal.
“Sarah visits him daily,” Emma told me. “Says it’s not his fault, that you’re just heartless.”
Emma brought a witch’s blessing spell to my house, carried in moonflowers.
“The pair of them are delusional. They tried to cripple you! How are you the heartless one?”
I eyed the glowing spell: “That must have been expensive. The competition prize was meant for you all.”
“Everyone pitched in when they heard you were leaving. We wanted you protected.”
She placed the spell in my hands, then took a deep breath like gathering courage:
“Vivian.”
“Hmm?”
“You changed after Sarah arrived. It’s like… like you knew something. I don’t know how to explain it – ignore me if I’m not
making sense.”
She carefully avoided the spelled flowers to hug me:
“Come back soon. I’ll still be your friend when you return.”
The night before leaving, Mother and I sat on the moonlit balcony.
She watched me, hesitating
I gripped her hand, meeting her eyes: “Don’t worry about me, Mother.”
In my past life, she died in a “hunting accident.”
While she lived, Michael never dared move openly against me.
My heart clenched, remembering
By the end, Michael had become obsessed with Sarah.
Was Mother’s sudden death truly an accident?
My grip tightened instinctively:
“Please stay safe. Protect yourself.”
I paused, then added:

“Watch out for Michael.”
“You’ve changed, little wolf.”
Mother stared at me, sighing
“I failed you.”
“You used to be so trusting. When I warned you about Daniel being untrustworthy, you defended him- ‘He’s not like that!“”
“When I tried getting you part of the pack’s hunting territory, you just wanted pretty dresses instead. It drove me mad.”
“I wished you’d be cleverer, more cunning. But if this change came at such a terrible price… I’d rather you stayed innocent.”
How could any mother not know her pup’s true nature?
In my past life, I was naive, always seeing the best in others.
That’s why Sarah trapped me again and again, yet I never truly fought back.
