In my past life, I’d never heard of Katherine Wells existing at all.
I arranged to meet Katherine Wells.
In a café far from the College, she sat across from me,
“Miss Reed, I know why you’re here. But my formula isn’t for sale.”
“Why not?”
She hesitated, then spoke
“The Alpha enhancement potion is incomplete.”
My coffee cup froze halfway to my lips.
“It increases Alpha power tremendously, but causes irreversible damage to the wolf spirit. Many packs would pay fortunes for it,
but I won’t profit from destroying our kind.”
I studied her intently.
When speaking of healing, her plain face transformed with passionate conviction.
She was brilliant.
Should have become a legendary healer, remembered for generations.
But in my past life, two wolves‘ greed erased her.
She died in a foreign land.
Another unnamed victim of pack politics.
“If that’s all, Miss Reed…”
I reached out suddenly to stop her.
Met her eyes earnestly: “Miss Wells, I have a different proposal.”
“I’ve developed a partial cure for silver poisoning. With your brilliance, it could be perfected.”
Her eyes widened.
“I’ll provide all the resources you need – rare herbs, ancient texts, whatever it takes.”
“All I ask is one small favor when you succeed.”
“The credit, the glory – it will all be yours. What do you say?”
