He chuckled.
“Are you not afraid I’ll call the police?”
He laughed. “Oh, please. Stop stalling. My car has a signal jammer. I know you’ve been texting your little boyfriend, but since you
were trying to avoid me, you didn’t dare check your phone. So, you wouldn’t even know if your messages went through.”
But the next moment, a flash of white light appeared–they were headlights.
I smiled. “Well, I guess you must know that this is the only road around here, right?”
I had recorded the entire conversation. Leah and Vincent soon ended up in a police station.
Benedict had almost finished his investigation, and aside from everything that just happened, Leah had also colluded with the
construction team to make false changes to the concealed project and siphon off the company’s funds. She even manipulated the bidding process to secretly give the company’s contracts to her relatives. Aside from Leah, there were plenty of higher–ups in the
company covering for this.
The company was still debating how to handle the situation, but after Leah’s arrest and Benedict’s insistence, they decided to
take the case to court.

But right now, I didn’t have time to focus on that.
I had always known Benedict was a bit of a romantic, but I didn’t realize just how much.
Ever since we came clean about our feelings, he happily moved into the company dorms and started living above me. He called it “sharing the good and bad times“.
To avoid bothering me, he bought an old, rundown secondhand car and began driving it after work to pick me up. He even cooked
for me.
I couldn’t help but think–people really couldn’t be too idle.
Although I had cooked before, I usually didn’t bother because of the hassle or my overtime, which led to irregular meals. Over
time, my stomach had taken a hit.
But now, Benedict took it upon himself to cook for me every day, always trying new recipes. In just a week, I had gained two
pounds.
It seemed like he had become addicted to it, constantly trying to feed me. Soon, everyone at the company knew I had an amazing
boyfriend.
In the end, Leah and her group were convicted. The verdict came out just as I was about to meet Benedict downstairs.
He was down there waving a huge bouquet of roses at me, his face full of joy, looking like a silly husky.
As soon as I walked over, Benedict gave me a big hug. I quickly pushed him away. “What are you doing? There are so many people
around!”
Benedict leaned in and whispered with a laugh, “What? Are you shy?”
I felt a bit uncomfortable. “Let go.”
“No way.” He pouted. “You’re my girlfriend. What’s wrong with me hugging you? You don’t even know how sad I was when you
broke up with me before.” As he spoke, his eyes reddened, and I could see tears threatening to fall.
“You still have the nerve to bring that up!” I glared at him and lightly punched him. “You kept working overtime. I got dark circles because of you!”
At this point, I finally understood him. He wasn’t a crybaby or clingy–he just knew I was the type to soften up when he acted like
this. Lately, he had been getting more spoiled.
“Hmph, well, I’m upset,” Benedict whined, rubbing his head against mine. “I don’t care. I’m not letting go now that I finally got to hug you.”
“You’re such a love–struck fool!”
I shook my head in exasperation, but to my surprise, he only got more enthusiastic. “I’m proud of it! I am a love–struck fool!”
Benedict had always been worried about how going public might affect me, so privately, he helped me prepare for graduate

school exams and pushed me to get certifications.
Two years later, through my own hard work, I took over Leah’s position and became the manager.
At the celebration party, Benedict and I clinked glasses. Under the soft lights, I could see the love he had for me.
This was our fourth year together, and his love for me hadn’t faded over time; in fact, it had only grown deeper.
Another year passed. We met each other’s parents, got engaged, and then married.
On our wedding night, he held me tightly, nuzzling against me. “Babe, you’re finally mine.”
“Okay, okay, I’m yours,” I chuckled, soothing him.
“Then, can I ask you something?” He seemed a little shy.
I raised an eyebrow. “What is it?”
“Can you promise you’ll only look at me from now on? If you look at other guys, I’ll get jealous.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Can I see everything?”
He blushed instantly, nodding. “Yes.”
I gave him a mischievous smile. “Then…”
He turned as red as a tomato. “As you wish!”
I couldn’t hold back my laughter.
