I knew Harold had gotten into gang fights during college, so I was worried Sean would get hurt. Ultimately, I hurried after them.
To my surprise, Sean could hold himself in a fight despite his gentle appearance. It didn’t take long for Harold to end up bruised. After a punch to the gut, he fell to the ground, unable to move.
“Are you okay?” I checked on Sean worriedly, relaxing when I saw he only had some superficial wounds.
Harold pursed his lips as he watched us from the ground, his gaze glum. He slowly got to his feet and moved his lips. He seemed like he wanted to protest, but his words came out as a reluctant admission of defeat. “Fine. I’ve lost.”
He gave me a profound look before limping away.
I checked on Sean again just to make sure he was fine. He said, “I’m okay. Judging from how he acted earlier, I doubt he’ll give up. You might be in danger for some time, so how about I drive you home after work for the next few days? It’s on my way.”
I didn’t want to drag him into this, so I rejected him. “No, it’s fine. It’s too much trouble.”

“No, it’s not. I only wish you would trouble
me
“he muttered.
You
I was too irritated to hear him properly. “What say?
“It’s no problem. I’m more than willing to help,” he said.
I nodded. “I can tell. You’re a nice guy–I’ve known that since middle school.”
Sean’s expression stiffened. He didn’t seem to know how to react to my words.
I wasn’t in the mood for anything else that night, so I promised to treat him to dinner some other time. As I turned to leave, a security guard ran to me to hand me a bag “This is from Mr. Harold Lawson. He asked me to pass this to you.”
I opened it to see a necklace, Harold had previously bought me a necklace to cover up his lie, but I’d never even opened the box. It was enough to tell me that he’d gone into a random store and picked it up without caring much about it.
However, this necklace was different. The box was made of velvet–it was evidently not the same league as the previous one.

Chapter 7
I opened the box to see a diamond necklace. I’d once told Harold that I hoped I could marry him in a dreamlike castle with a diamond necklace around my neck–it would make me feel like a princess in a fairy tale.
However, my dreamlike wedding had ultimately been reduced to a simple affair in a pizzeria. I’d finally gotten the diamond necklace I wanted, but it no longer meant anything.
I shut the box, deciding to mail it back to Harold.
When I got home, I contacted my former superior and found out that Harold had quit his job to get information on my whereabouts from her. Her lips had remained sealed, though.
She had no idea how he’d found out where I was, either.
Harold had left without a trace. Ivory had even gone to the company to look for him.
Just then, I received a text from a number I didn’t recognize “I won’t give up. I’ll prove my determination to you.”
I had no doubt it was from Harold. I frowned and deleted the message.
The following day, I saw what his determination entailed.
