Chapter 6
I ignored their chatter, trying time and again to wipe the beads of sweat on Aster’s forehead.
‘Sweetheart, you have to get better soon.‘
That night, Shawn finally came back, holding a bag tightly as if it was his lifeline. Somehow, he’d managed to collect all the
pieces of the toy car.
Because of how dirty he was, he didn’t enter, only looking at Aster through a pane of glass. “I’ll piece your toy car together… Promise daddy you’ll wake up when I finish, okay?”
I whipped around, ghostly tears dripping uncontrollably on Aster’s face.
However, it wasn’t because I was moved.
No, my heart was filled with hatred!
I hated that his realization came too late, and hated his hypocrisy even more!
I already passed away, and my son was already hurt deeply by him and that witch. Even if he managed to wake up, he’d be
traumatized for the rest of his life, and he wouldn’t have his mother anymore.
Shawn spoke to himself a little more, before he laid his hand on the glass and caressed it as if it were Aster’s head.
After he left, Jasmine came in.
Some people never stopped being disgusting, no matter when, where, or how.
Together with her was the attending physician who was in charge of performing surgery on me.
After listening in on their conversation, I found out that they’d known each other ages ago!
“Jasmine, don’t make things difficult for me. The reason why I even dared to kill Astrea and her daughter was because you said
that Mr. Dawson didn’t care about them at all! What happened to the impending divorce you were talking about?”
The doctor’s expression was miffed, clearly feeling cheated.
“That boy’s under the care of Dr. Stephen now, so how am I supposed to do anything to him? It’s going to show up on
surveillance for sure!”
