It wasn’t all that white, either, splattered with bloodstains. Some were red and fresh, while others were dried to a dull brown. From the looks of it, Dr. Joan had done her job well.
She smiled, gesturing at Aster to come closer. “Don’t you want to meet your mommy? Stand over here with me and I’ll tell you where she is!”

Aster’s expression was dubious, but he couldn’t resist his longing for me.
My heart jumped out of my chest, and I screamed at him not to go.
Aster looked around, suddenly smiling wide.
“It’s Mommy! I hear Mommy’s voice!”
With the last of his hesitation gone, he ran toward Jasmine and crawled up the railing, just like how he crawled toward me in the hospital.
He truly believed that he would see me again, but only an endless abyss awaited him.
Jasmine grabbed the young boy, gripping so hard that her nails dug into his flesh. Aster winced but endured the pain, hoping to see me. “Where’s Mommy? Where is she?”
Jasmine snickered, pointing downwards. “Once you jump down, you’ll be able to meet your mommy! She’s waiting for you in
hell, you mongrel!”
Her voice became shrill and vicious as she spoke, trying to push Aster off the railings, and even though I was just a soul, I tried my
damndest to catch him, to stop him from falling off the roof.
Jasmine’s expression turned curious, looking around at the empty air around her. “Why do I hear that woman’s voice…? Gosh, I
really have gone mad, haha!”
While she was dazing out, Shawn finally rushed to the scene, grabbing our son from the clutches of death. Jasmine’s body swayed on the railing as she made a scramble for the air, mumbling about how she didn’t want to die.
“The ones who should be dead are that woman and that brat, not me!”
After saving Aster, Shawn initially wanted to leave immediately, but hearing her words made him stop.
“Aster, go and wait for Daddy on the eighth floor, alright?”
After Aster left down the stairs, he went back to the rooftop.
Seeing him, Jasmine finally smiled. “Shawn, I knew you’d come back for me!”
In response, he shoved her down the roof as hard as he could.
Along with a wail, Jasmine finally fell to her death, and I could finally breathe a sigh of relief. There was no way I could rest easy if she was still out there, waiting for the right moment to threaten my son.
Meanwhile, Shawn wasn’t so lucky.
This place wasn’t out in the middle of nowhere, after all, so people nearby had already noticed the commotion. They’d been taking videos on their phones, so they managed to capture the exact moment Shawn pushed Jasmine off the roof.
My father–in–law shouted at him for being rash, but Shawn was unusually calm and collected.

In his words, there was one thing that Jasmine was correct about–he was the one who had killed me.
Therefore, he deserved to be punished in jail.
“Now that Jasmine’s completely out of the picture, I’m sure Astrea can finally rest in peace“.
Once I heard his words, an invisible thread seemed to undo itself around my soul, and I felt myself becoming even lighter, almost
fading.
After that, Aster came down with a high fever, and he became much more quiet after he recovered, not asking to see me every day
like he used to.
From the looks of it, he’d finally pieced together the truth.
My father–in–law planned on bringing him overseas so that he could have a change of environment, so that it might help him
heal.
The day they left was also the day that I reached my limit.
Watching my son get in the car to the airport, I smiled and waved my hand.
As if he felt something, his head quickly swiveled in my direction. Tears streamed down his small yet determined face, and he
waved right back at me.
‘Goodbye, my star.
‘If you fall in love with a girl when you’re older, remember what Mommy taught you.
‘Love her with all your heart.‘
