Wilson’s eyes were bloodshot, his usual calm demeanor completely shattered. Still trying to keep his composure, John pulled Tammy behind him, his face tight with tension.
“Wilson! Have you lost it? Why are you laying hands on Tammy?
“You need to apologize to her right now, or we’re done as friends!”
Wilson let out a bitter laugh, his expression ice–cold as he stared down John.
“Friends? The biggest regret of my life is being friends with an idiot like you!
“Your wife is dead, and you refuse to believe it. Instead, you’re protecting a woman you don’t know well! Did a dog eat your brain?”
John’s face flushed red with anger, and his tone grew more dismissive.
“Enough of your nonsense. I was trying to leave everyone with dignity, but you’re forcing my hand. Sandra called Tammy this morning, hurling insults at her. You’re telling me she’s dead? You think I’m that easily fooled?”
Determined to prove his point, John pulled out his phone, played a recording, and threw it at Wilson.
Curious and confused, I moved closer to listen alongside Wilson.
The voice on the recording was harsh and angry. “Tammy, do you have any shame? You seduced my husband. You’ll get what’s coming to you. If you know what’s good for you, disappear now. If you keep clinging to my husband, don’t blame me for being ruthless!”

The words were cruel, but the voice was not mine. It sounded similar, but anyone close to me could easily tell the difference. Well, except for John. He was utterly convinced that it was me who had cursed out Tammy.
Feeling wronged, I pouted, wanting to tell him that I was already dead. Dead people would not be able to make phone calls.
John’s face was twisted with disgust. He let out a cold chuckle. “You hear that? This is the good wife all of you admire so much. She’s no different from a shrew, hating anyone who crosses her.
“If Tammy hadn’t been smart enough to record the call, I’d never have known how vile she truly was.
“If you’ve got nothing else to say, then leave. Tell her to stop being so paranoid. If she apologizes to Tammy, I’ll let this go.”
Before he could finish, his mother came rushing toward him, slamming into him with such force that he was knocked to the ground.
