John stood frozen, allowing the man to escape, his gaze fixed on Tammy as he slumped in defeat. Tammy forced a smile.

However, before she could finish, she fell limp again, pretending to have collapsed.
John hesitated momentarily before rushing to catch her, though his expression was cold. He scooped her up in his arms and dashed toward the hospital room.
Just before reaching the door, he suddenly stopped again, his face shocked as if he had seen a ghost. He saw his younger brother, Chris, at the entrance. He had not seen him in years.
“Chris, what are you doing back here?”
Chris looked at Tammy in John’s arms and sneered.
“What am I doing back here? I came to attend Sandra’s funeral and see just how cold–hearted you could be!” Hatred burned in his eyes.
John staggered back, leaning against the wall as Tammy slipped from his arms, blinking as she slowly regained consciousness.

“Y–you can’t be serious. Sandra called Tammy this morning. How could a dead person make a phone call?”
Chris scoffed, not giving him the chance to stay delusional. He grabbed John’s hand and dragged him toward the
morgue.
Tammy tried to intervene but was shoved to the ground, her head hitting the wall with a thud, knocking her unconscious.
No one stepped in to intervene. John finally stood before my lifeless body. He stumbled to my side, extending a trembling hand to grasp the edge of the white cloth, but he never found the courage to lift it.
Chris laughed coldly. He showed no mercy as he pulled the cloth away.
