Leo went missing and didn’t attend his parents‘ funeral.
Afterward, I went back to my parents‘ place to rest for a few days.
When I returned home, the sheriffs told me that the Feral Rogues‘ leader had caught Leo, and they needed to rescue him from deep in the woods.
Kael also approached me, asking me to come with him to negotiate with the leader, but I refused.
Two weeks later, the sheriff called again. The Feral Rogues had sent a video showing Leo, severely tortured and near death.
Leo later requested a video call with me, which I accepted.
He looked so thin that his eyelids had sunken into his eye sockets. His white hair, combined with his gaunt appearance, made him
look like a man in his 60s, though he was still in his 20s.
After a long silence, he finally spoke. “I’ve been poisoned with Wolfsbane, Lyra. I’m going to die in two days at most.”
He likely expected me to panic and beg him not to die, but instead, I was reminded of a time when he was injured in a fight while I
was still in school.
I had panicked so much th+ I spent an entire month’s allowance on medicine for him, living on wild vegetables and water for
about 20 days.
This time, however, I didn’t give him the reaction he wanted.
He knew that the little girl who had once climbed a cliff to harvest the medicine that saved his life was no longer there.

“I’m sorry, Lyra.”
I remained silent.
“I
“I know I deserve all this, and I should go to hell for what I’ve done to you.”
A slight frown crossed my face as I felt a wave of disgust, not wanting to listen any longer. “Is that all?”
Just as I was about to disconnect the call, he panicked. “I’m sorry, Lyra! I don’t want to annul our bond! I don’t want you to leave
me!
“It was Cheryl! She tricked me! I thought I’d killed her last time, but she faked her death and took the ransom money to live her
life!
“I’m sorry, Lyra! I really am! Please! Will you let me make it up to you in our next life?”
I looked at Leo and remembered a time when he’d looked at me with cold, predatory eyes, like a wild animal ready to tear apart its
prey.
I closed my eyes slowly, then opened them to look at him one last time. “I’m going to have a shaman annul our bond before you die, Leo. I’m not going to be your widow. You don’t deserve it.”
Without another word, I ended the call and threw my phone away.
That afternoon, I went to the shaman, asked for a potion to annul our bond, and drank it without hesitation.
A week later, we received Leo’s remains.
I sold the house and was preparing to leave the country with the money Victor and Vera had left me.
Meanwhile, David had to sell his house and cars to pay off his debts to the pack before he could become the next Alpha.
With the money in my hands, I set off for the next chapter of my life as a free werewoman.
