Minnie forced a smile, her voice soft but firm. “I’ll do whatever you say! You’re my favorite too!”
I didn’t expect Christian to go to the hospital.
The doctor led him to the records office, but the moment he saw Clara’s name on the file, his composure cracked.
“This isn’t my daughter! My daughter’s name is Minnie Gordon. She was in this hospital! She was discharged some time ago—
find her medical record now!”
The doctor’s friendly demeanor turned cold. “Minnie Gordon is your daughter? But weren’t you always with Clara Lambert?”
Christian froze for a moment before snapping, “What does that have to do with you? Minnie is my daughter. Just find her file!”
The doctor sighed but didn’t argue. Christian had ties to the hospital, and no one wanted to offend him. He dug through a small
cabinet and pulled out Minnie’s file.
Christian snatched it eagerly, flipping through the pages. His face darkened. “Where’s her discharge record? What’s wrong with your hospital? You didn’t even record when she left!”
The doctor didn’t answer right away. Instead, he reached to the bottom of the file and pulled out a document, placing it in front of
Christian–a death certificate.
“Mr. Gordon, the little girl you’re asking about passed away on the 8th of last month. That same day, you were celebrating your
friend’s daughter’s successful surgery.”
Christian’s face twisted. “How much did Rachel pay you to say this? You expect me to believe she just happened to die on the
same day? Are you making up a story?”
The doctor rolled his eyes. “This is an official death certificate. Do you think I forged it? On the 8th of last month, the girl’s mother cremated her immediately after she passed. You never saw the body. You never even saw the urn, did you?”
He scoffed, shaking his head. “Are you really that little girl’s father?”
No father would abandon his sick child, only to come looking for her after she was already gone. It was outrageous!
