Chapter 5
On a cold, cerle night, with the wind howling like a ghost, carried a metal lunchbox filled with last night’s leftovers.
It was said to be the broom–wielding old man’s favorite food.
Aria and Axel stood guard behind me, watching over me un 14:30 am.
Just then, the third boss appeared, carrying a broom. His face looked defeated, and his eyes were hollow as he limped around sweeping the fallen leaves.
“He’s sweeping the streets at this age? And it’s only 4:30 am! Axel is so inhumane. Doesn’t he care about old people? Poor old man. Does he not have a pension? Don’t his children care about him?“.
I was thinking about this when the live chat started going wild again.
“I’m losing it. Why does Heidi always manage to hit the nerve every time?”
“Hahaha! Has she seriously not found any useful info all day? Didn’t Delicious tell her the taboo?”
“Don’t mention kids or pensions to this old man!”
Lcouldn’t see the live chat, but I could clearly feel the ground shaking. An earthquake was coming.
The earth cracked open. At the same time, the old man’s eyes turned blood red, and his veins bulged.
Aria and Axel rushed to shield me, but I saw the old man suddenly collapse. I had basic first aid training, and I knew he was having a heart attack.
“Quick, we need to save him!” I said urgently.
“He’s not human!” Axel countered.
“Whether he’s human or not, we must save him first!”
I couldn’t care less about the earthquake. I just ran toward the old man.
Aria and Axel couldn’t stop me, so they summoned a violent wind and thunder to battle the earth’s tremors.
Maybe because of my profession, I always carried heart medication.
After a series of actions, the old man began to show some color. And above his head, the affection level rose to 99
%.
I remembered a news story from many years ago about an elderly person who fell on the side of the road in a
snowstorm.
No one dared to help, and it was said that the old man was nearly 70.
His pension was swindled away by her son, who claimed it was for his “startup“. After taking the money, he never returned home.
The story never mentioned what happened to the old man in the end, but if he had been fine,
I would never have met him here.
“Why did you help me, young lady? Aren’t you afraid I’ll extort you?”
I knew this was a key question. If I answered correctly, his affection level would definitely shoot to 100%.
