Shawn gave Blair a mocking smile and said, “I’m not running a charity here.”
Blair’s face flushed with embarrassment as tears welled up in her eyes. “That’s not what I meant. I’ll work hard to pay you back. I just…”
Zachary leaned in, overhearing their conversation. “Is Rowena still angry?”
was surprised since my anger usually lasted only a few days at most. He clearly thought I was being reasonable.
Zachary turned to Shawn and added, “Why punish Blair just because she’s mad at you? That’s like pushing her into a corner?”
Seeing Zachary defend her, Blair lowered her head as tears rolled down her cheeks. “It’s all my fault. I should’ve explained things to Rowena.”
“It’s not your fault,” Zachary replied, unable to resist comforting a pretty girl, especially one as delicate and pitiable as Blair.
He continued, “It’s just Rowena being petty. Honestly, her constant tantrums are exhausting. Even I get annoyed.” He said to Shawn, “Seriously, man, you shouldn’t let Rowena off the hook this time. Women can’t be spoiled like this. The more you indulge her, the more entitled she becomes.”
Shawn stayed silent, taking a long drag of his cigarette before picking up his phone. After a moment, he sent Blair a money transfer.
