Chris placed the flowers in front of Catherine’s grave with a gentle expression on his face.
“Catherine, our daughter and I are here to visit you. Are you alright?”
Three months later, the Somerfield Group announced its bankruptcy. All their assets were frozen.
At the entrance of the Somerfield family’s villa, Chris held Laura in his arms and stood there with a meaningful smile on his face. “How are you doing, guys?”
“Chris, the Somerfield family is now bankrupt. You happy now?” Jacob glared at Chris.
Chris curved his lips into a sneer. “Of course, not. My wife died because of you. How can I be satisfied when you’re still alive?”
“You…” Linda was infuriated and passed out.
She then died a couple of days later because they couldn’t afford any treatment.
Chris wasn’t surprised or excited when he heard the news.
If it weren’t for Linda, his and Catherine’s marriage wouldn’t be ruined.
She deserved it!
Two weeks later, Thomas died as well. He was beaten to death by his enemies.
The Somerfield family had offended quite a lot of people when doing business. Now that they had become bankrupt, their enemies were obviously going to get revenge.
Luke’s and Jacob’s legs were broken as well. Their wives were so scared that they ran away with their children.
A passerby kindly took them to the hospital and called Nova to come and pay for the medical fees, but she just blacklisted that person.
A month later, Nova couldn’t stand James drinking and bringing different women home every day, so she asked for a divorce, left Brenda with him, and ran away.
Since Brenda’s mom abandoned her, James wasn’t going to show any concerns either.
He would ignore Brenda no matter what she said.
In the end, Brenda was so hungry that she had to beg on the streets. She would also occasionally steal from convenience stores.
Two years after Catherine died, Chris arrived in front of her grave again with Laura.
Laura had already grown up quite a lot. She was wearing the clothes that Catherine had prepared for her 7th birthday. She kneeled in front of Catherine’s grave and said, “Mom, Dad said that you’ve gone off to somewhere far away. He told me to tell you that I’m doing great and you don’t have to worry about me. Remember to take care of yourself.”
Chris looked at Laura dotingly and said to Catherine’s grave “Laura’s mental disorder has been cured. We’ve also finished the food you’ve prepared for her. By the way, James died. He drank too much alcohol and died of alcohol poisoning. Nova died in a car accident as well.
