He always used to say things like, “Whatever you like, it’s up to you,” or, “It’s just a place to sleep and eat. There’s no need to put too much thought into it.”
He never understood how much joy I took in creating a home.
But now, I was reclaiming all of it.
Sigmund, standing nearby, said in his calm voice, “We can decorate our home too.”
I paused, surprised.
Our home?
Was he serious?
“And one more thing. We haven’t filed for the marriage certificate yet.”
His words caught me off guard, but before I could respond, there was a loud crash.

The door had swung open, and the sound of shattering glass echoed in the room. I turned to see Liam standing there, his bloodshot eyes fixed on me, and a vase I’d painstakingly picked out lying in pieces on the floor.
“You!” he snarled.
I grabbed Sigmund’s arm. “Go to the other room. I need to talk to him.”
“Alright. Call me when you’re done,” he said simply, strolling to the study and closing the door behind him.
I stayed in the living room, facing Liam.
He couldn’t hold back anymore. “Diana, do you really have to do this to me? All those years we were together, and I just…”
I cut him off. “Just what? You mean you just left me behind to go running after Sharon again, right?
“Liam, ask yourself–how many times has this happened? Every time you walked away, you assumed I’d wait for you. But who said I had to wait? Why must I be obligated to stand still for you? I got tired of waiting, Liam. I won’t wait anymore!”
